The '''Gapla Civic Party''' ('''GCP'''), founded as the '''Verdis National Party''' ('''VNP'''), is a big tent, populist, and civic nationalist political party in the [[Federated States of Gapla]].

The party advocates civic participation, national unity, and moderate political reform.

== History ==
The party was originally founded in the [[Free Republic of Verdis]] in January 2026 and held the title of the first political party in Verdis, however was non-official as the Verdisian government were opposed to officiating any political parties until a permanent settlement is created on their land. Due to a large portion of the founding membership having Scottish ethnicity and origin, the original name and logo were inspired by the [[wikipedia:Scottish_National_Party|Scottish National Party.]] On the now defunct VNP website the party promoted centre-left ideals, advocating for the creation of a constitution, renewable energy, a social safety net amongst other democratic socialist ideals.

In 2026, following months of increased tension between the party and the Verdisian government and the attitude of the government towards political parties as a whole within Verdis, the party held an internal referendum proposing moving operations to the [[Federated States of Gapla]]. Ultimately an overwhelming majority of 74% of the membership body of the party voted in favour of the motion and the party was reformed into the now big tent Gapla Civic Party, largely lead by the same leaders and executive board members as well as Gaplan additions.

This is a list of currently registered '''political parties in Gapla'''. Since 1 June 2020, when the Ministry of Internal Affairs began data collection, 45 applications to register a political party were submitted, 18 (40.0%) of which were approved.

Registration requires at least 2 members who are Gaplan citizens, a name, a logo, and an ideology. Under Gaplan law, any registered political party whose membership is below 2 ceases to be a registered political party.

The party was originally founded in the [[Free Republic of Verdis]] in January 2026 and held the title of the first political party in Verdis, however was non-official as the Verdisian government were opposed to officiating any political parties until a permanent settlement is created on their land. Due to a large portion of the founding membership having Scottish ethnicity and origin, the original name and logo were inspired by the [[wikipedia:Scottish_National_Party|Scottish National Party.]] On the now defunct VNP website the party promoted centre-left ideals, advocating for the creation of a constitution, renewable energy, a social safety net amongst other democratic-socialist ideals.

In 2026, following months of increased tension between the party and the Verdisian government and the attitude of the government towards political parties as a whole within Verdis, the party held an internal referendum proposing moving operations to the [[Federated States of Gapla]]. Ultimately an overwhelming majority of 74% of the membership body of the party voted in favour of the motion and the party was reformed into the now further centrist Gapla Civic Party, largely lead by the same leaders and executive board members as well as Gaplan additions.
