The Gapla Youth Advisory, commonly known by its acronym GYA, is a non-governmental organization established by the Provisional Government of Gapla on 17 June 2026. The goal of the organization is to promote political participation and youth engagement with the development and progression of the Federated States of Gapla as well as enhancing the voice of members of the Gaplan community aged 13–16.
History
The organization was an initiative proposed by Provisional Governor Ben Wallace of the Gapla Civic Party earlier in June 2026. After the Provisional Government voted in favor of the organization, the Gapla Youth Advisory was officially launched via an announcement on Gapla's official Discord server Gapla@Discord on 17 June 2026.
Structure
The organization is officially directed by two adults appointed by the Provisional Government, however it is also actively managed and administered by several Provisional Governors which assisted in the establishment of the organization.
Members are responsible for electing a leadership body, consisting of a Chairperson, a Vice Chairperson and a Secretary, each with different powers, responsibilities, and duties. Currently, these positions are vacant and the first election to choose who will hold these positions will held on 24 June 2026.
To become a member of the organization, prospective members must submit an application in the Gapla Youth Advisory official Discord server that appears after a server invitation before they are allowed in to the server.
The only current requirement for membership is being aged 13–16 as well as being participating member of the Gaplan community.
Elections
The first elections for the Chairperson position and Secretary position were held on the the 24 June 2026 and polls were open for 24 hours and released at 11:00 GMT the following morning.
Chairperson
For the chairperson position, two candidates tied each with 36.59% of the vote. Originally Jack FitzMaurice ran for the position in a political alliance formed with secretary candidate Billy Lewis called The People's Administration, however Jack dropped out of the election due to increasing tensions in the organization and the election cycle clashing with his familial interests. Due to the abnormal tie result the management of the GYA put the winning candiates Luis Andrade and Hayden DuPree in a voice call to discuss who would take the roles of Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson, as the plan for the election was that the candidate with the second most amount of votes would occupy the vice position.
As of currently a resolution regarding who will occupy Chairperson & Vice-Chairperson is to be decided.
| Candidate | Votes | % |
|---|---|---|
| Luis Manuel Andrade | 15 | 36.59 |
| Diego Hernandez | 11 | 26.83 |
| Hayden DuPree | 15 | 36.59 |
| Total | 41 | 100.00 |
| Registered voters/turnout | 60 | – |
Secretary
For the secretary position, despite their being two original candidates, Psyco who was originally running dropped out just hours before polls opened claiming he wanted to serve as an "advisor" to the Chairperson and felt he would be better suited in that role. Due to this only one candidate was on the ballot, however the turnout was significantly lower with 10 less votes cast compared to the other election held that day.
| Candidate | Votes | % |
|---|---|---|
| Billy Lewis | 29 | 100.00 |
| Total | 29 | 100.00 |
