The Progressive Liberal Party (PLP), formerly the People's New Socialist Party (PNSP) from 2019 to 2022 and the People's Liberal Party (PLP) from 2022 to 2026, is a center-left, liberal, and progressive party in the Federated States of Gapla.
The party was founded by Chelsea Chen in 2021 and underwent a major reorganization under leader Max Dépelteau in 2026, who is the party's sole provisional governor.
History
Ideology and platform
In terms of social policy, the party is liberal and progressive, supporting legal same-sex marriage, abortion rights, euthanasia, gender self-identification, and drug legalization. The party opposes affirmative action and gun rights, and supports the criminalization of hate speech and the Nordic model approach to prostitution. The party is critical of police brutality, but opposes anti-police sentiment. Its opposition to affirmative action, introduced in 2023, is a notable conservative position in the party's platform.
In terms of economic policy, the party supports a mixed economy with a strong welfare state and government regulation, although it opposes nationalization and generally favors market capitalism over socialism and communism.
