Presidential elections were held in the Federated States of Gapla on 6 January 2026, as required by the Provisional Charter. The AfR/PLP-supported candidate and incumbent president Amalia Battle defeated the RRP candidate Hendrik Täks in a surprise landslide victory, and RRP candidate Connor Klinkosch was elected Deputy President.
Prior to the presidential debate, Täks was widely considered to be frontrunner in the upcoming presidential election. Minutes before the debate, Manifold Markets, an online prediction market, predicted that Täks had a 76% probability of winning the election. However, Täks's poor performance at the presidential debate resulted in every member of the Provisional Government present, including Täks, voting for Battle. As Battlehad reached a majority without in absentia voting, she was immediately declared the winner of the election.
Background
In the 2025 election, Chelsea Chen and Ahmed Arshad were elected as president and deputy president respectively, but Arshad's resignation prior to his inauguration resulted in Amalia Battle's appointment to the deputy presidency. Following then-President Chen's resignation after a national scandal involving a Member of the European Parliament, Battlebecame president in one of the fastest political rises in Gaplan history.
Candidates
Following the announcement of the election in December 2025, incumbent president Battle announced her intention to run for re-election, and if not elected to the presidency, the deputy presidency. Wyatt Baek, the leader of the Alliance for Reason, and Micah Wolfensohn, the leader of the People's Liberal Party, both endorsed Battlefor the presidency.
Although Wolfensohn had previously expressed his intention to run for the presidency, he declined to run following Battle's announcement and instead ran for the deputy presidency. However, Wolfensohn resigned from the Provisional Government in 2025 following a heated abortion debate, nullifying his candidacy, but rejoined the Provisional Government in time for the election.
In late 2025, internal tensions within the Righteous Reformist Party resulted in Klinkosch, the party's founder and speculated presumptive presidential nominee, threatening to leave the party. Following the resolution of the conflict, Täks's camp retained party leadership as they reconciled with Klinkosch and nominated Täks for the presidency and Klinkosch for the deputy presidency.
The final registered candidates for the presidency were Battle and Täks, and the final candidates for the deputy presidency were Battle (only eligible if she does not win the presidential election) and Klinkosch.
Results
Amalia Battle was elected President, and Connor Klinkosch was elected Deputy President.

Aftermath
The elected candidates assumed office on 31 January 2026. Following the establishment of the National Renewal Party, Deputy President Klinkosch resigned on 1 February 2026 after just two days in office, and President Amalia Battle chose former opponent Hendrik Täks as her Deputy President. President Battle later resigned to focus on her role as Minister of Public Relations, and Hendrik Täks became President. President Täks chose former president Battle as his Deputy President.
